FE discipline

FE Other Disciplines

The Other Disciplines exam is the broadest of the seven and is answered almost entirely from the general sections at the front of the handbook. There is no discipline-specific section for it, which changes how you navigate.

The trap

Because there is no home section, every question sends you somewhere different. This is the discipline where knowing the whole table of contents pays off most.

Sections you will be working in

Page numbers here are read from handbook version 10.5 (seventh printing, April 2025), which runs to 502 pages. NCEES revises the handbook and page numbers move with it, which is why the drill asks which section a topic lives in rather than which page.
