What the section holds

Covers measures of central tendency and dispersion, permutations and combinations, set operations and the laws of probability, the standard probability distributions and their expected values, propagation of error, linear regression and goodness of fit, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals and sample sizing, the tabulated test statistics, and statistical quality control.

Why it matters for your exam

Every discipline specification examines probability and statistics, and the Industrial and Systems specification weights it heavily. The distribution tables in this section are the ones you will actually need to read numbers off during the exam.

How to navigate it

The tables of test statistics sit near the end of the section and take up a lot of pages. Knowing that they follow hypothesis testing rather than preceding it saves a slow scroll every time you need a critical value.
