What the section holds
Short and dense. Force and resultant in two dimensions, resolution of forces, moments and couples, systems of forces, centroids of masses and areas and lengths and volumes, moments of inertia, friction including belt friction and screw threads, statically determinate trusses, and concurrent force systems.
Why it matters for your exam
Statics is examined on the Civil, Mechanical, Industrial and Other Disciplines specifications, and its centroid and moment of inertia tables are reached constantly from the mechanics of materials and structural sections.
